Where this all began

Taking the Leap started as a nugget of an idea, over a decade ago, when I was a television news producer in New Orleans. Day-to-day news coverage had become increasingly draining and I found myself being more drawn to stories about people who were making a positive impact on our beautiful city. Having always believed in the power of the media, I felt strongly that it should be used in a more positive way to inform and transform people’s lives.

Throughout my career as a marketing and media executive in local and network television news, I’ve had the honor of working on a number of award-winning newscasts, breaking news coverage, documentaries, investigative reports and online stories that struck a chord with hundreds of thousands of people. As a former television news producer and Peabody and Edward R. Murrow – award-winning journalist in New Orleans, San Francisco, New York City and Atlanta for local TV stations and network news including CNN, CBS, NBC, ABC and Turner Sports, I have always wanted to create programs and write stories that would inspire and empower people.

I believe each and every person – has within us the deep desire and ability to create the business and life we’ve always envisioned for ourselves. And, I know that if we can see that it’s possible for someone else to accomplish their dreams — it will inspire and empower us to take the leap!

For years, I kept imagining a TV network or website where I could tell these stories. In December 2013, after being laid off for a third time during yet another “restructuring” in Corporate America, I used a chunk of my severance pay to purchase the domain, www.takingtheleap.com.

Now that I’ve finally taken the leap to pursue my dream of writing and producing content that inspires and empowers others, I truly hope it will help you find your purpose and the courage to do what you love and start creating and living the life you’ve always wanted.
